10/6/2023 Announcements -A Pickaway Ross Career and Technology Center Representative will speak to our sophomores this morning at 9 a.m. in the high school gym. - The pep rally will begin at 1 p.m. today in the high school gym. Cheerleaders will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m. to prepare the rally. The rest of the students will be dismissed by PA. -We will be hosting a powderpuff football game on Sunday, November 5th at 5pm on the football field. An email has been sent out by Mrs. Morton to sign up to participate. The email also includes a link to purchase class shirts. -There is a Quiz Bowl practice today during lunch in Mr. Clark’s room. -The last day of the 1st 9 weeks is next Friday, October 13th. -Students that finish the first nine weeks with no grades below a “C”, no disciplinary referrals, and have no absences (medical absences exempt) will earn a pizza party. The pep rally will begin at 1 p.m. in the high school gym. -A reminder that the 1st nine weeks grading period ends on Friday, October 13th. Talk to your teachers, ask questions, and keep those grades up! -Remember, watch your attendance. If you have more than 7 unexcused absences in a 9 week period for a class, your grade will drop to a 69%. -Lastly, please do not stuff anything in the toilets. Our custodial staff works very hard and they do not need to spend extra time out of their day to unclog them. Google Classrooms have been created for the classes of 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027. All students have been sent an invite in their school email. Students attending PRCTC need to check their Zane Trace email account to accept the invite. Daily announcements, forms, and other items will be shared in the classrooms. If a student checks their Google Classroom, it will make it easy to keep up with anything going on at Zane Trace. It is also another way to receive forms if you are away from campus. If a student did not receive the invite, contact Mr. Jones at jjones@ztlsd.org.

Yet another IT student has achieved a remarkable feat by leveraging their newly acquired expertise in Microsoft Word, adding to the impressive achievements of this academic year. Hailey Lemley, a senior enrolled in Mrs. Thornton's IT class, secured a second-place ranking on a global scale. Her mastery allowed her to complete the tasks in an astonishing 1 minute and 42 seconds. Keep up the outstanding work, Hailey!

Recently, the aviation students at Zane Trace High School embarked on an educational journey focused on the operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), more commonly known as drones. Their week began with the successful completion of the TRUST certification, which stands for "The Recreational UAS Safety Test." This test is a newly established requirement for all recreational drone pilots in the United States, ensuring a sound understanding of aeronautical knowledge and safety before taking flight. These students obtained their TRUST certification through the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), an FAA-approved authority for administering the TRUST certification. With their certification in hand, they proceeded to learn the ins and outs of drone operation, starting with basic hovering techniques and progressing to advanced flight maneuvers. Before engaging in hands-on drone activities, the students delved into an exploration of the diverse types of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and their extensive applications in today's world and the future. The Aviation class is taught by Sarah Thornton, a satellite instructor for the Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center. Not pictured are students Vada Steiger-Ludlum and Jocelynn Simpson.
