The science fair and Zane Trace Middle School go hand-in-hand thanks to the hard work and dedication of two amazing science teachers. Melissa Payton and Dennis Foreman are quite the dynamic duo when it comes to building confidence in our students who hold the title of district science fair champs for the third year in a row! Tanalyn Kellough, Chloe Johnson, and Londyn Carroll are eighth graders at ZTMS who recently placed in a local writing competition. The VFW contest had contestants write using the prompt, "What does democracy mean to you?" In this contest, Tanalyn won first, Chloe won second, and Londyn won third. Since Tanalyn won first place, she went on to districts and is headed to state soon. Tanalyn will be awarded a monetary prize for each level and will have a chance to stay overnight in a hotel for the state contest. We are proud to have Tanalyn represent us in the Robert Leach VFW Post 108 essay contest! What can you make with wire, foil, masking tape, and a sprinkle of creativity? At ZTMS, you could craft an action figure! Check out these incredible armatures made by seventh grade artists. Some even feature hair crafted with alpaca fur from D & K Family Farm.

From about September 27 through October 7, seventh graders have worked on making self portraits. They have worked really hard to make them perfect and not one of them is the same as the one beside it! Great job seventh graders! They also put their personality and their interests into the background. (Written by Lily Smith)
