Pioneers,
I wanted to inform you that the entrance to the high school is currently being transformed into a lobby. Our resource officer, Deputy Thomas, recommended the idea due to the fact that we have individuals that enter the building and never make it to the office.
The changes made are:
The second set of doors in the main entrance is now locked. When you enter the lobby there will be a monitor on your right that all visitors will use to sign in.
A camera is being installed in the lobby so our office can see who is present.
A page button is being installed at the second set of doors. Visitors can use this to page the office.
An access panel will be installed for employees to use to enter the building.
A TV is being installed.
We are currently furnishing the lobby with chairs and some decorative items.
How the lobby is used:
The lobby will be in use from 7:00 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. daily. After hours, both sets of doors will be scheduled to be unlocked when needed for after school events.
If a parent/guardian is coming to the building to sign out a student, they can sign them out in the lobby. The student will meet the parent/guardian in the lobby.
A student can still sign themselves out in the office if no one is picking them up.
Only visitors to the high school will be permitted past the lobby. Visitors to the middle school and elementary school need to use their entrances. This prevents visitors from crossing the building before reaching their destination.
All visitors to the high school must enter through the main entrance. We have had security issues from visitors being let in at different entrances.
If a visitor wants to meet with a staff member, they just need to hit the page button and check with the secretary. The secretary will check for availability and visitors will be allowed to enter once there is availability.
Scheduled visitors will just hit the page button after they sign-in and be let in by the secretary.
All visitors entering the building will need to put on a visitor sticker before they enter.
The first set of doors will be unlocked at 7:00 a.m. daily for students that arrive early. They can wait in the lobby until students can enter the building at 7:20 a.m. They will hit the page button, and the secretary will allow them to enter.
All doors in the lobby will be scheduled to be unlocked for after school events and at specified times for events during the school day.
Thanks for helping make our school a safer place for our students!
